What This List Says About Toyota Vehicles’ Fuel Efficiency

The list above tells us a few things: First, the most fuel-efficient vehicles are the Toyota hybrid models. That’s because they switch between gas and electric motors, often using the electric motors at lower speeds and moving to the gas engine for higher speeds and longer trips.

Size also plays a factor in vehicles’ fuel efficiency. For example, the most fuel-efficient non-EV Toyota is the Corolla, which is a sedan. The larger the non-electric vehicles get, the less efficient they are. The Toyota Tundra (a large truck) only gets 18 MPG in the city, compared to the Corolla, which gets 42 MPG in the city. While there are plenty of reasons to purchase a large, gas-powered truck, you may want to stick to small and/or hybrid vehicles if you’re really focused on purchasing the most fuel-efficient vehicle.
